Ditching the Monday Blues

Oh Monday, here you are again. Faithful friend, you never fail to knock at our door. On the one hand you are a new start: a blank canvas itching to come to life, but on the other hand, how heavy is that reality? You are blank and boy does it take effort to press on and endure where needed and to and change where God calls for change. But Christian, this effort, this canvas, it is a gift. That God would let us be a part of his plan, take an active part in his Kingdom, wow, that is an incredible opportunity we often take for granted. The very fact that we have another go at this never ending cycle is not a curse but truly a gift from our Lord.

We don’t have to live in the past, in our mistakes, in our sin, or in our failures. His mercies are new Every. Single. Day. And despite our shortcomings, God is still choosing to uphold us with his righteous right hand. Never forget, the Lord has created THIS particular day, THIS particular week and is intentionally sustaining YOUR particular life at this very moment. Our great God has good and marvelous works planned out for you to do. Things he planned for you to accomplish before you were even a blip on the radar.  No this doesn’t mean your life will always be a cake walk and yes there will be things too big for you to handle but he gives us the strength to press on and can bring good out of any situation and can bring good out of any week. Isn’t it amazing that He wants to use you in his kingdom THIS week and he wants to shine light into your darkness TODAY? Not only does he want to use you, but this great God, who calls what is not and immediately it is so, this great God wants to know you on a deep and personal level. This week, we have the opportunity to glorify God, play a part in his Kingdom, and grow closer to our Maker. Wow. Thank you, Jesus, for this new start. Thank you for giving us spiritual life and for sustaining our physical lives. You’re reading this which means you have physical life. But do you have spiritual life? This week, may we be aware of his presence and remember these truths. Stop worrying about what your canvas is going to look like. Stop worrying about whether or not you have the energy to keep going. Instead, look to Jesus and let him guide you with his broad strokes as he brings your masterpiece to life. Let us boldly set out to proclaim his glory and may we ever set our eyes on Christ.
